Anime and Manga Recommendations

Hey guys!!

You can use this thread if you need a good anime/manga or if your just bored and would like to find a new anime/manga anyway!

Some guidelines (these will be edited upon request from the forum Mod and if everyone thinks they REALLY need to change):
1. When you recommend a series, please put it's age restriction up too (e.g: PG 13 for Naruto), just so people know or tell us if it has some content that is not for younger viewers (i.e: blood'n'guts, horror..etc.)
Or you can just warn us if it has lots of stuff like blood'n'guts...
(I'm sure we don't want this -> to happen )
2. You should ask for anime/manga by genre or tell us what your looking for (i.e: shoujo, romance, martial arts...etc)
3.You can recommend a series even if no-one asks for it.
4.Be nice and I'm sorry if these rules are too obvious, just wanted to make things clear!!

OK, so let me start things off...
I would recommend Naruto to those who like an action-packed series and most importantly Suspect

...NINJAS!!!
Rating: PG 13 (contains violence, swearing and blood [sometimes])
The manga is a good read and the anime is alright although there are many fillers and this can be off-putting and the series is also rather long and you might be a little lost.
It also gets very boring as it can be predictable at times and as mentioned before, the anime has many fillers that have NOTHING to do with the actual plot aside from side-adventures.
Its a good, action-packed, humorous series that can be touching and serious when it needs to.

Rating: E-Everyone +10 (Romace and Teenage stuff)

The mangna is good,and the anime is very cool.It's about 5 girls that have to save the world, fighting some demons with instruments like a bell and musical instruments.
But its cool,cus Ichigo is always surrounded by hot guys, and she doesn´t knows who to choose.

I also have another manga recommendation:

Title: Sket Dance
Rating: I'd say 12+ (contains some sexual humor and a bit of violence)
Genres: Comedy, School life, Shonen

Its about three high-schoolers, Bossun- the typical,strong-headed leader, Himeko- the former girl gangster and Switch- the brainy anime-lover who talk via a computerised voice.
Together they form the Sket Dance, a team dedicated to helping anyone in the school, no matter what they are requested to do. With the oddball missions they are given, every chapter is hilarious and zany.
The only bad side is that there isn't much of a plot to the story but its more of a day-to-day retelling or events the group goes through.
Its great if you like light stuff, comedy or just something good to read.

Plot: Haruhi is a poor tomboyish student at a school for the ultra-wealthy, able to attend because of a scholarship, and unable to even afford a uniform. One day, she stumbles across the decidedly peculiar, but very popular, Ouran Host Club. She tries to leave, but accidentally breaks a vase, and unable to pay for it, she's told that she'll have to stay and do odd jobs. That is, until they decide she would be more valuable as a club member. Not realizing she's female due to her appearance, they fix her up and give her a male uniform. She's an instant hit, so they decide to have her keep up the charade even after they find out the truth. Haruhi, being average almost to a fault, doesn't know what to make of the unconventional activities of the Host Club (or of the even more unconventional members), but having little choice, she plays along. Age Rating: Meh, PG I suppose. A very light-hearted anime.

Plot: It's Yui Hirasawa's first year in high school, and she's eagerly searching for a club to join. At the same time, Ritsu Tainaka, a drummer, and her friend Mio Akiyama, a bass player, are desperately trying to save the school's light music club, which is about to be disbanded due to lack of members. They manage to recruit Tsumugi Kotobuki to play the keyboard, meaning they only need one more member to get the club running again. Yui joins, thinking it will be an easy experience for her to play the castanets, the only instrument she knows. However, the other members think their new addition is actually a guitar prodigy...

Plot: Basically, this manga is about a girl named Tohru Honda. Her mother passed away and she had been living in a tent until a family by the name of Sohma took her in. She soon learned that they all live with a curse. Each family member is possessed by the vengeful spirit of an animal from the Chinese Zodiac. Whenever one of the members becomes weak or is hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they change into their zodiac animal! Tohru is currently living in Shigure Sohma's house along with Kyo and Yuki Sohma and is caught between a love trangle with them!

This manga is really good! Please read it!!!

P.S- DCQ, have you tried searching Veoh for dubs? I can't find any direct links because Veoh's blocked Botswana, but may i suggest watching the subbed episodes instead? The english dubbed version only went to around ep. 27 out of 52, so you'll be missing alot of the story.

A good Shoujo/Romance manga involving fantasy/the supernatural...hmm...

Although I haven't read it, you could try Shugo Chara. I have seen episodes of the anime & I think it's pretty good (so the manga should be better; it usually works that way XD).

It is definately shoujo, it involves fantasy & romance, plus it's amusing. I'm not sure whether it would be too girly though...

Plot: Every child has an egg in their heart, unseen at first, an egg with the would-be self of their dreams. Hinamori Amu, part of a group called the Guardians, protect those eggs from becoming x-eggs, eggs filled with resentment and resignation that gives children troubles. Amu's job is to capture and restore x-eggs to their orginal form. She does this with the help of her three Shugo Chara (guardian characters or her would be selves), Ran, Miki and Su. Thanks to them she can change her character and abilities, and so fight against the mysterious organization Easter which aim is to find a special egg called Embryo using the x-eggs.

Well, I thought I should recommend some new ones too....

1) Name: Mushishi
Genres: adventure, drama, mystery, psychological, supernatural

Themes: Folklore, Mythology

Plot Summary: They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi". Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi".

Rating: 14+ according to FUNimation.

2) Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (manga)
Genres: Mystery,detective, shounen.

Plot Summary: Neuro is a demon who eats mysteries and puzzles. Bored of the puzzles in the underworld, he decides to eat those in the human world. He forces Yako to become his assistant as he can't reveal his true identity in front of humans. eventually yako learns more about being a detective whilst Neuro does the real mystery solving.

I have another anime recomendation!! & anyone who likes shounen anime, such as Bleach, Naruto, etc. may like it. It contains a lot of action & humour.

Name: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Genres: Action, Comedy & Supernatural

Plot: Tsuna is a hapless youth with low test scores and lower self esteem. His mother hires a tutor to help Tsuna out, but it comes as a surprise to the both of them when the tutor is a baby named Reborn, claiming to be from the Mafia. Reborn informs Tsuna that he's the next heir to the Vongola family, a mafia family, and tries to help Tsuna reach the goal. Reborn possesses the Dying Will bullet, which kills a person and brings them back to life to fulfill the last regret they had, and even works to get Tsuna some henchmen to make him a true mafia boss-in-training.

Name: G.I. Joe Resolute
Genres: Action, Military
Rating: TV14 violence, blood
Plot: Cobra Commander, leader of the Cobra Terrorist Organization, creates a new death weapon and turns it against the world killing 10 million people. Can the G.I. Joe Team stop him
before he obliterates the United States and the rest of the world?

I recommend GI Joe Resolute to anyone wanting a quick watch, it is only 1 hour long total and as far as I know can be viewed on youtube. Steven Blum (voice actor who plays Blunk from W.I.T.C.H., Spike from Cowboy Bebop, and Flamedramon from Digimon) plays Sgt. Duke Hauser (GI Joe's Mission Leader) and several other characters. These ten five minute episodes with a ten minute final were created for the adult fans of G.I. Joe, however can be enjoyed by anyone without knowledge of the series.
