I LUV this manga! The explanation of the story can be found in the Anime & Manga Recommendations topic!

Here are the members of the family!:

Tohru Honda: Only person outside of the family that knows the curse.Loves Kyo, her friends are Arisa Uotani and Saki Hanajima.
Yuki Sohma(The Rat): Likes Machi, soft-spoken, self-esteem issues. He's called "Prince Yuki" or "Prince Charming."
Kyo Sohma-(The Cat)The Cat left out of the Zodiac. Hates Yuki, leeks and miso. But mostly Yuki.
Kaguro Sohma-(The Boar)Absolutely loves Kyo.
Shigure Sohma(The Dog)-Engimatic,mischevious,and a little perverted. A popular novelist.
Hatori Sohma(The Dragon)- Family Doctor...wife is dead (I think.)
Ayame Sohma (The Snake)-Yuki's older brother. Runs a costume shop. Likes Tohru's teacher, Tori.

Hiro Sohma(The Ram or Sheep)- Good at throwing verbal barbs, likes Kisa.
Momiji Sohma(The Rabbit)- Half German, older than he looks. Mother rejected him because of the curse, his sister Momo has been kept from him most of his life.
Hatsuharu Shoma(The Ox)- Has a "Black" side. Once in a relationship with Rin.
KisaSohma (The Tiger)- Shy and self-conscious thanks to her classmates. Yuki feels close to her.
Isuzu "Rin" Sohma(The Horse)- Once in a relationship with Hatsuharu, Tohru leaves her rather cold. She hates the way the family members treat Akito.
Ritsu Sohma(The Monkey)-Shy, wears kimonos. Looks like a she, but is really a he! Crossdressing calms his nerves.
Kureno Sohma (The Rooster or Bird)-His curse broke long ago. Can't bring himself to leave Akito's side.
Akito Sohma-Actually a woman. nown as "God"to the Zodiac members. Treated with fear & reverence. A dark figure of many secrets.

I haven't gotten around to reading the manga yet, but I absolutely adore the anime!! It's so amusing & cute!! Very Happy

. (Despite the differences between it & the manga XD).

My favourite characters are Ayame (the wedding dress scene is unforgettable lol), Hatori, Shigure & Akito. Oh, & Haru too!! His split personality rocks XD.

Oh, I don't think Hatori & his girlfriend/fiance got as far as marriage because Akito wouldn't allow it. However, his partner didn't die; Akito's violent & agressive behavior towards their relationship caused her too much stress & she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, so Hatori removed the part of her memory about them being in love & she left town.
Well, at least that what happened in the anime. I'm not sure if it happens differently in the manga.

Well, in the manga, an infuriated Akito throws a vase at Hatori when she hears of his plan to marry his fiance.
This blinds him in one eye and later, his fiance blames herself for his injury. This puts a huge strain on her and she almost has a breakdown. Hatori finds it painful to see her so sad and decides to remove her memory of the two of them together so she can lead a normal life.
Her life becomes normal ( but without Hatori) and she later gets engaged to another guy, but Hatori doesn't feel too badly about this since he knows/ believes his actions were for her own good.

I loved the manga but I haven't seen the anime. I think its one of those manga that are definitely worth re-reading!!!

My favorite characters are Hatori, Ayame, Shigure and Kureno. But I think all of the characters are very well thought out and done. Smile

I figured you'd like those characters. XD Ayame is hilarious.

Funny thing is, my friends were like, "You gotta read this manga!" So I did and I thought, "This is crap." But then, I re-read it and it was awesome! I've read almost all the volumes and now it's my fave. Rin, Ayame, Shigure, Kyo, and Haru rock!

My fave couples:
Kyo + Tohru
Rin + Haru
Kyoko + Katsuya

I'm watching episode 1 of the anime right now.
