ALRIIIIGHT!!!!! HERE WE GO!!!!!
Dark Lover
Chapter 1
Night had crept into the long hours of a seemingly long day, even with winter coming to cloak the earth in her freezing robe of ice. In an apartment building, not too far from the dreaded building (if you’re a student there) known as Sheffield Institute, the lights were off on the third floor. Midnight had long since passed, and the wee hours of the morning were closing in before the dawn.
But in one room, the shadows twisted, and turned. They followed their dance as the room’s resident slept on, her black curly hair framing her face, which portrayed uneasiness. Her dreams were wrapping tighter around her, taking over her mind, and body.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She felt the world focus, only to notice her surroundings. Where she stood was a stone balcony bedecked with beautiful black roses. She felt a breeze caress her face, only to hear his voice; the voice which had been haunting her for the past week.
“Eurydice…” he called out.
She looked to the balcony’s edge, only to see him dressed in his black robes which seemingly glowed with the very moonlight behind him. His long platinum blonde hair billowed in the wind, black rose petals now entangled in his golden mane. His smoldering slate eyes held her hazel, and his slender hand reached out to her; beckoning, luring, and summoning her.
“Come to me…” he whispered.
Eurydice, without even thinking, started to run to him. She wanted to reach him, to finally know him. But as she ran, he seemed to be moved farther away, as if some hand was pulling him away. His hand still outstretched, he whispered again,
“Come to me…”
She struggled to reach him, but if she overstepped, she would fall. But suddenly, the concern to reach him overstepped her common sense, and she climbed the rail. She reached farther, but still she only felt the night air. But the wind, once so gentle, now violently gusted, knocking her off balance, and causing her to plummet.
She screamed, but suddenly the air was stolen from her lungs. She couldn’t breathe, but yet he gazed upon her falling form, hand still outstretched. As she plummeted into the darkness, her body met the ground with a sickening thud, and she lay broken. And yet he still called her name.
“Eurydice…”

Eurydice bolted awake, fear induced sweat running down her face. She was panting heavily; never before had the dream gone that far. And it never before felt so real. As she sat upright, she gazed around the room, the presence that was once in her dreams fading away into the emptiness of the shadows.
She heaved a heavy sigh; why were these dreams persisting? It was as if they wanted her; wanted her to stay with them in that dark uncertain world. But why, though? Even as she went to stand up, her body was astoundingly sore. As if she really did fall…
This can’t be! It was a dream! She reasoned.
But her physical body was proving that wrong. She felt her eyes widen; could it be that what happened in the dream realm be happening to her in the real world? Shaking her head in a dazed haze of lost thoughts, she weakly headed to the bathroom, not aware that the one who haunted her dreams was watching.
-------
The throne room was deathly silent, a non existent breeze stirring the black roses entwined upon the pillars of the gothic room. The shadows seemingly moved with the breeze as well, but as the man form Eurydice’s dreams stood, the shadows writhed, as if on fire. His name was Phobos, his title wrongly prince. His eyes were fixed on her through the sands, transfixed by her form. She was slender, but had slight fuller hips and a slightly fuller chest. Her long, raven black curly hair came to her middle back, contrasting beautifully with her slight pale skin. He felt his breath be stolen as her hazel eyes, resembling those of a tiger’s, came into view. This girl had stolen his attention from other important matters, and he wanted to know more about her.
She too had haunted his dreams, the words she whispered in these fervent nights of waking up in a cold sweat long remembered. Words of love; affection; and desire, a desire he himself wanted to satisfy. But he had to wonder why his dreams, once hell bent on domination of the Congregation of Candracar, were now bound and irresistibly teased by dreams of her.
Could it be…? Could she be the one?
Phobos descended the dais of the throne, his thoughts now occupied. He returned his energy from the scrying sands to him. He had to be logical about this. There was no way she was the one. She wasn’t from Meridian, and if she was his, Candracar would stride to destroy them.
But logic or not, he could not deny he was definitely attracted to her.
“Only time will tell this tale, my sweet Eurydice…only time.” He whispered softly.
But as he went towards the private springs to rejuvenate himself, he felt a nagging desire to see her form. He growled; this didn’t know when to cease! He wanted to shut it off, but couldn’t. It wanted satisfaction; both carnal and logical. Sighing, he walked into his private chambers and whispered with a forming grin,
“Well; looks like I will be helping time start this story….”
-------
A soft, yet heart rending sound escaped the dizi flute in Eurydice’s hands. The flute, its history originating from China, was bamboo lacquered black with red tassels at the end, a jade bead holding them. The notes began to soar, making the flute seemingly weep with joy. The sound of traditional Chinese music filled the home. The notes trilled as they seemingly spoke of friends speaking after years of not seeing each other.
Eurydice’s eyes closed as the notes rose in pitch. Her hands were practiced enough were she needed not to see. Her breath silent, the notes sounded as if they were becoming depressed, as if the friends her music spoke of were beginning to depart. The notes began to lose happiness. They trilled once more, but more somberly notes sounded before they too faded into emptiness.
Eurydice smiled as she began another song, this one a bit more upbeat. She had to thank Yan Lin for introducing her to this instrument, and teaching her how to play. Sadly now though, she barely had time to help her find a way to make her music stronger. Her new song had more of a folk like tune to it, and as she played, she wasn’t aware that the shadows in the now sunlit room were now dancing, forming seemingly a doorway.
Phobos smiled as he walked through the shadows, but was completely caught of guard by the music. He stood quietly, taking in the music’s beauty, and how wonderfully it eased into his ears. The song was slowly coming to its climax. As it slowly died away, he couldn’t help but clap in applause.
Eurydice jerked in response, clearly caught off guard by this. She turned, stunned as her tiger like eyes met his face. She was bewildered; he existed! He really existed! But…but how?! She felt his eyes hold hers hostage, his smoldering spheres of slate showing a hunger that wanted to be satiated.
Phobos was stunned; the tiger eyed beauty of his dreams stood before him, but he never envisioned her eyes being as captivating as he perceived them now. He felt his eyes explore her, liking what he saw. He whispered softly as he gently caressed her cheek,
“You play so beautifully, my dear…”
Eurydice felt the flute slip out of her hands, and softly land upon the carpet rolling away from them. He edged a little closer; the hand that had caressed her cheek trailing seductively down her neck, chest, and his arm encircled her waist. Eurydice blushed as the other hand cupped her cheek as he pulled her closer to him. Realizing she was complimented, she humbly whispered back,
“Th-Thank you…”
He smiled coyly. Her humility was pure; never had he seen this in any woman before. His gaze trailed her face, his eyes resting upon her lips. He felt temptation breed, and unlike so many times before, restraint wouldn't be heeded.
He gently brushed his lips against hers before locking them in a kiss. Eurydice, stunned beyond relief, felt an oozing sensation form in her limbs followed by electricity. Her first kiss!!! Her first kiss! She didn't dare resist, as if he'd vanish forever. But time, like always, intervened.
"Eurydice! you have a phone call!" her mother yelled.
Phobos gently pulled away, whispering as he caressed her face before vanishing into the shadows,
"We'll be in touch...."
And with that, he had vanished from the room, as if he were never there.
